Among the various steel plate specifications, whether they are cut-to-length plates or coil stock, materials of the same grade and thickness will command different selling prices depending on the coil width. Therefore, to reduce costs, it is essential to carefully determine the optimal coil widths during procurement, selecting, whenever possible, width ranges that do not incur any additional charges while still maximizing material utilization. For cut-to-length plates, the goal is to choose the most appropriate dimensions so that, after initial shearing at the mill, no secondary cutting is required, thereby lowering cutting expenses. For coil stock, the focus should be on selecting coil specifications and processing methods that allow for direct uncoiling and forming, thus minimizing the need for secondary cutting and improving overall operational efficiency.
